Coach Maina cautions of a ‘wounded’ Nairobi United

Assistant coach George Maina has cautioned that Nairobi United will be a tricky side, when the team meets them in Matchday 14 of the SportPesa League on Wednesday afternoon in Murang’a.

The league newcomers have not won any of their last three league matches, with two defeats and a draw. However, despite their form, coach Maina believes they will be a tougher side.

“It will be a tough match and games between us and them have not been easy. They have been playing in the CAF Confederation Cup and they have gathered some good match fitness. We will need to approach the game well and get our tactics right,” said the assistant coach.

He adds; “It will be even tougher because they are lagging behind in matches and in points and they want to catch up so they are coming out strong. They have lost two of their last three matches and will definitely be hungry.”

The team will be playing its penultimate match of the year, the second of a run of three games in a week and coach Maina says the players have built god resilience.

“We only had two days to prepare but still we are ready. The players have worked really well the last two days and we need to go out and face the game with courage,” added the tactician.

The team has been on a good run of three consecutive wins and Maina hopes they can keep the momentum going.

“The belief has been there since the season started but definitely, a good run builds it even more. We have been improving game by game and now we have that confidence and we also have some chemistry within the team,” he noted.

The match will be played at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a, kicking off at 2pm.
