Tusker FC picked its first point of the 2025/26 FKF Premier League campaign after a hard fought 0-0 draw with Mathare United at the Dandora Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
It was a cased of many scoring opportunities missed for the Brewers, but a welcome point to earn some much-needed calm after back-to-back defeats in the opening two games.
Coach Charles Okere made changes to his team as he sought to find the right winning formula, with Ronny Otieno handed his debut while defender Francis Oduor and forward Curtis Wekesa were handed their first starts.
With Chris Erambo and George Kaddu rested due to injury concerns, Dennis ‘Decha’ Wanjala and Fabian Adikiny were also handed first starts of the season.

The team was on the offensive from the onset and should have been ahead after just four minutes. Wanjala delivered a brilliant ball off a freekick on the left, finding the run of Charles Momanyi but the skipper’s thumping header sailed wide.
Almost immediately, The Brewers were denied by the post and an off-the-line clearance. Eric Kapaito made a brilliant turn inside the box and struck a low shot on his weaker left foot but the ball came off the post. Ronny picked up the rebound and slapped on target, but the Mathare backline threw a body to keep the ball off the net.
On the other end, keeper Brian Opondo was called into action making a brilliant double save with Mathare being very dangerous in their first foray in our defensive third.

The team continued to push in for the opener and came close when Curtis did well to curl a freekick from distance but the keeper turned it behind for a corner. It was the same case in the second half with Curtis landing another chance.
This time, Wanjala’s delivery off a freekick was headed into the forward’s path, who in turn took a swing on the volley but the shot flew just inches off target. The team kept on the attack with David Polepole, Thomas Omolle, Ian Simiyu and Dennis Oguta all brought in to boost the attack.
Oguta would have won the game with less than five minutes to play when he made a great run to meet with a lofted ball by Francis, but he couldn’t keep his header down with the keeper at his mercy.
The point now puts the team on the pedestal, as the boys now look to turn the one into three in the next assignment.
