Tusker FC hosts Mathare United in SportPesa Premier League matchday three

Tusker FC will take on Mathare United in matchday three of the SportPesa League at the Dandora Stadium Wednesday afternoon. The team seeks a reprieve after a difficult start to the season that has brought forth back to back defeats.

Coach Charles Okere says the team is ready to bounce back to winning ways, adding everyone is keen to right the wrongs from the first two matches of the campaign and do better.

“It is a tough period of course losing two games in a row, but we have also tried to look at the positives that will lift the team’s spirits heading into tomorrow’s game. We had a good pre-season with so many good moments that we can pick and bring them onto our league matches,” the coach said.

The tactician has disclosed that the team has worked on defensive operations, especially putting into perspective the four goals conceded in two games. The coach says they have addressed specific issues, especially compactness at the back to ensure no spaces are left behind for opponents to hit dangerous penetrative passes.

“We have conceded four goals in two matches but in circumstances which we should have controlled better so over the last two days of training this is an area we have looked at keenly,” the coach said.

On meeting a Mathare side coming off a confident win, the coach expects it tough.

“They are a very good side side with technical players and are confident at the moment so we will approach that match with a lot of caution but we must head there confident.”

Mathare won their last match, with a 1-0 result against KCB at the Kasarani Annex.

The Brewers will look to put behind the results off the last meeting with the Slum Boys which Mathare won 2-1 with a come-from-behind performance at the same venue.
