Tusker FC has promoted promising forward Douglas Omanga from the club’s youth setup to the senior team. The youngster, who has impressed with his technical ability and composure in midfield, now joins Charles Okere’s first-team squad ahead of the new campaign.
Omanga has been a standout performer in the Youth Team, catching the eye with his work rate, vision, and confidence on the ball. Last season, he was included in the senior team matchday squad twice.
Speaking after his promotion, an elated Omanga said it was a dream come true to don the senior jersey.
“This is a very proud moment for me and my family. I have worked hard in the youth team and getting this opportunity motivates me to push even more. I want to learn from the experienced players and contribute to the success of the team. Ihave been really working hard towards this and looking forward to get this chance,” he said.
He adds;
“This is a huge morale booster not only to me but the entire Youth Team because they now see that whatever you do down there is being noticed and there is a pathway for youngsters into the senior team.”
Coach Okere hailed the midfielder’s progress, noting that his promotion is a sign of the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
“Douglas is a player we have had for a few seasons and he has shown great discipline and consistency. He has the right attitude, which is very important, and we believe he has what it takes to adapt to the demands of senior football. Our plan is to give him the right environment to grow and gradually integrate him into competitive matches,” Okere stated.
Youth Team coach Peter Kariuki, who has worked closely with Omanga in his development, praised the midfielder’s determination.
“Douglas is a player who always stood out because of his hunger to improve. He has put in the hard work every single day, and this promotion is well-deserved. I am confident he will continue to shine and make Tusker proud,” Kariuki said.
Tusker has in recent years emphasized the development of young players, and Omanga’s elevation is seen as a reward for both his hard work and the club’s commitment to its youth system.
He joins David Polepole and George Odhiambo, who were earlier on promoted. This now makes it three the number of Youth Team players promoted for the coming season.
