A would-be 95th minute winner by Thomas Omolle was chalked off by a controversial assistant referee flag, as Tusker FC finished off the 2025/26 season with a 1-1 draw against APS Bomet. The Brewers had led 1-0 before APS equalized with a 92nd minute penalty.
Omolle appeared to have tapped home the winner from close range minutes later when the APS Bomet backline failed to clear a long throw from Servyl Akouala. However, the linesman chalked off the goal for an offside, with Omolle carded after stripping his shirt halfway to celebrate his goal.
A dismayed group of players and coaches expressed their dismay at the decisions, with the referee ending the game just after the restart.
Tusker had shown a commanding display from start to finish. Ian Simiyu scored the opener in the 44th minute with a brilliant finish, beating the keeper off his line after a well lofted Dennis Wanjala ball.
Simiyu had been a thorn in the APS backline and just minutes before, had a similar chance this time from a Chris Erambo pass, but saw his effort skid just wide. Erambo himself had a shot fly wide, while Eric Kapaito also had a sniff at goal fly over the bar.
In the second half, the visitors came back stronger pushing balls high into the Tusker FC box, but skipper Charles Momanyi marshalled the defense well. It is from such long balls into the box, that they were awarded a penalty, when the referee adjudged Thomas Teka’s boot to have been high as an APS attacker headed the ball inside the box.
The single point gained from this side sees Tusker finish the season at ninth place with 45 points.
