Oguta comes off the bench to snatch win away to APS Bomet

Dennis Oguta stepped off the bench to score the winner 10 minutes to time as Tusker FC closed down 2025 with a 1-0 victory away to APS Bomet in Kericho.

In a tough and tightly contested affair in South Rift, it was always going to be the least of details that would decide the game. And it was Oguta, six minutes after coming on, who would rise to head in the winner.

The forward had replaced Eric Kapaito who had made his first start since last month, and he did justice to his place. A long goalkick from Brandon Obiero was well read by the forward who beat the keeper, brushing it beyond his reach.

Though he picked up an injury and had to be replaced after the collision with the keeper in the lead up to the goal, Oguta had done his part.

Both teams had the chances to score, with Tusker seeing more of the opponent’s goal in the opening half. Dennis Oalo thrice came close. First, he was picked out by a decent ball from Eric Kapaito, but his shot slid wide. Another chance presented itself when Thomas Omolle did all the work on the left before cutting back a cross, but Oalo couldn’t hit it on target.

Minutes later, he did well to dance his way past his markers but his eventual shot was saved by the keeper.

In the second half, the hosts came back with a bit more pace and had two chances, their dangerman Hansel Ochieng seeing his shot sail wide while Daniel Kibet had another close range effort saved by Brandon.

After scoring with 10 minutes to play, the boys managed the game well to see out the three points. The victory takes the team to 24 points, and a positive end to the year’s fixtures.
