Tusker FC striker Eric Kapaito demands more from himself, even as he chases a third career FKF Premier League golden boot. Kapaito, with eight goals so far this season, says he still needs to work more, with 11 rounds of matches left.
“I think I am somewhere, and making some effort, but I believe there is need for more improvement. I can do more,” Kapaito said.
He adds; “I am happy so far because the scoring touch is coming in well and the best part is that the team is winning. It wouldn’t be good if I am scoring and the team is not doing well. ,y positive contribution is helping the team do well and I am hoping to do more.”
Kapaito is three goals shy of the current top scorer, Gor Mahia’s Benson Omalla, but believes he has what it takes to bridge that gap and battle for the golden boot. He is currently fourth in the scorers’ standings, with same goals as Police FC’s Tito Okello and one behind Bandari’s Francis Kahiro.
“As a striker of course your job is to score and the chase for individual awards always gives you some motivation for the season. Winning a third would be great and of course I am working toward that,” Kapaito notes.
The forward hopes to continue with his scoring form this weekend, when the team takes on AFC Leopards on Sunday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. He knows it will be a tough game but says the players are well prepared.
“We have been working really well and pushing each other in training this week. They have a good run but we also have a good run and we have been preparing for a tough game and to get three points,” notes the striker.
