Winger Thomas Omolle was the standout performer as Tusker FC edged Mwea United 3–2 in the first round of the MozzartBet Cup, with the attacker netting a crucial brace in Kirinyaga over the weekend.
Omolle’s two well-taken headers laid the foundation for the Brewers’ victory, before Cliff Oruko capped off the scoring with a stunning free-kick to seal progression into the second round of the competition.
The winger, who has enjoyed a strong start to the season, expressed his delight at getting on the scoresheet—an area he admits he has been keen to improve.
“I am delighted to get on the scoresheet. This is one of the aspects of my game I have been working hard on, and the two goals give me confidence and motivation to push even more, especially in the league,” Omolle said.

“As a team, we are also happy to have progressed to the second round of the MozzartBet Cup.”
Looking ahead, Omolle underlined Tusker FC’s ambition to go all the way in the competition, while also crediting his teammates for their collective effort.
“Our ambition is to win the Cup. This round is now behind us and our focus shifts to the next one. It is always a great feeling to progress, and I want to thank my teammates because without them I wouldn’t have scored those goals. We worked as a unit to earn this victory.”
Tusker FC are chasing their first MozzartBet Cup triumph since 1994, a title that has eluded the Brewers in recent seasons. Omolle, however, believes the current campaign could finally mark a turning point.
