Assistant coach George Maina believes Wednesday evening’s fixture against newly promoted Mara Sugar at the Dandora Stadium will not be an easy task, but says the players have their focus right and are determined to pick a second win on the bounce.
Maina says the team has grown pretty well over the last eight matches, and the weekend win over City Stars has given the boys a confidence boost.
“We have prepared well for this game and basing on the good results we had against City Stars, the boys are really motivated and in good spirits for the game. We had really worked hard over the international break to address some few weak areas that we had and most of all it gave the injured players good time to return fully fit. I believe we are now at a better place,” the coach said.
Speaking on the team’s cohesion coach Maina said; “The team has really grown in terms of the understanding between the players. We had so many new players joining in and sometimes it takes a bit of a period before they gel but now they have. They also understand what kind of a team Tusker is and the demands that come with this badge.”
On Mara Sugar’s potential threat; “They are a really good team if you look at their results this season. This is a team which has been together for a long time and I have watched them since they were in the Super League. It will be a tough match but we are ready for it. We hope that the players can put in the instructions from training to the game.”
The match will be played at the Dandora Stadium from 4pm.
