Tusker FC seek first win of the season in Posta away duel

Tusker FC will look to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Posta Rangers in their second match of the season at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Brewers had a false start to the campaign, losing 2-0 against KCB last Friday, but coach Charles Okere and his charges will look to right the wrongs and get a win to put the season into swing.

The mailmen, coached by former Tusker FC defender and coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo have had a contrasting start to the season, beating Mathare United 2-1 in a come-from-behind victory on Monday at the Kasarani Annex.

Coach Okere will look to make a few tweaks into his team as he looks for a winning formula to put the side’s trophy hunt up and running.

Team news:

Coach Okere will have a full squad to choose from with no injuries at the moment. Midfielder Chris Erambo who was a second half introduction against KCB is fully fit after a pre-season ankle sprain and will be one of the players the tactician will be looking at to swing the team’s momentum.

Head to head:

Last season, the team completed a home and away sweep against the mailmen, winning the first leg 3-1 in Machakos and following that up with a 2-1 win in Dandora. In the last meeting, David Polepole, then a protégé from the Youth Team scored a goal and provided the assist for the winner scored by Teddy Dok.

Overall, in the last 19 meetings, Tusker FC has won nine times, lost four while six of those games ended in draws. The last time Tusker lost against Posta was in January 2022 when they picked a 1-0 victory.

Tusker’s biggest wins against Posta were in 2010 and 2021, both ending in identical 4-1 scorelines.
