Tusker FC shift their attention back to the SportPesa League this Saturday afternoon with a crucial clash against Mathare United at the Police Pavilion in South C.
The Brewers head into the fixture buoyed by confidence after last weekend’s thrilling 3-2 victory in the MozzartBet Cup, a result that secured progression to the second round and marked the team’s second win in three matches, clear signs of steady resurgence following a challenging start to the year.
With the title race beginning to take shape, maximum points will be vital. Tusker currently trail league leaders Gor Mahia by 12 points, and victory on Saturday could see the Brewers climb from eighth to fifth place, narrowing the gap to the top three to goal difference.
Speaking after Friday’s final training session, head coach Charles Okere emphasized the importance of consistency and mentality.

“We need to win every match ahead of us. It will not be easy against Mathare, but we must fight for every ball and every space,” Okere told the players.
The first-leg encounter between the two sides ended in a goalless stalemate at Dandora Stadium. This time, Tusker will be determined to turn dominance into goals and secure all three points.
Mathare United, currently 12th on the table with 21 points, sit seven behind the Brewers. The Slum Boys have won just once in their last five matches and have struggled in front of goal this season, scoring only 12 times while conceding 17.
Their home record has also been inconsistent, three wins and six defeats in nine matches, with seven goals scored and 11 conceded.

Tusker, however, have been impressive on the road. In nine away matches this season, the Brewers have secured six wins, one draw and two losses. They have found the net 10 times while conceding just five, a defensive solidity that could prove decisive on Saturday.
Team news ahead of the clash sees Tusker without left-back Dennis Wanjala, who remains sidelined after sustaining an injury in last weekend’s Cup match in Kirinyaga. Midfielder Dennis Iguma is also ruled out.
With confidence building and the league momentum gathering pace, the Brewers will be aiming to make another statement performance as they continue their climb up the table.
