Coach Okere elated by Erambo’s return, provides Iguma update

Coach Charles Okere is elated with the return of midfielder Chris Erambo to the first team fold. Erambo has missed the last six weeks of action with an ankle injury.

He only played the first two matches of the season before aggravating the injury he picked during the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign with the national team.

The midfield dynamo made his return as a second half substitute in last weekend’s match against Gor Mahia at Kasarani.

“It is a good welcome back for Erambo. He is a tactical and technical player with a good command on and off the ball and we are happy with his progress and that he is finally back. He got a few minutes at Gor and it was a good first step in getting fully back in and we are happy with the progress he has made this week. He is a player of national team quality and a great addition to our camp,” coach Okere said.

Erambo’s return is a massive boost to the team especially after the departure of Issa Lumumba and Dennis Iguma’s current injury.

Okere has also provided an update on the Ugandan international who picked an ankle sprain in last week’s final training session before facing Gor Mahia.

“Iguma is a very important player in our set up this season and it is unfortunate that he got a knock and has been ruled out. He is however responding well with treatment and the medical team is doing its best to ensure he returns soon,” the coach explained.

Iguma will once again miss the trip to Awendo to face Mara Sugar on Saturday, but is expected to return to on-field training next week.
