Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere has praised the team’s tenacity and resilience, following a hard fought 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars at the SportPesa Arena in Murang’a on Friday.
The tactician says the players held good ground to ensure despite pressure, they guarded the victory to start off the month with a win.
“It is a positive and great feeling to secure these three points and with a clean sheet. It is great starting off December with a win and it signals good things to come. The victory also sets our morale high,” the coach noted.
On how he managed to steer the team to victory, the coach said; “We had done our analysis on them (Ulinzi) and we knew their strengths and weaknesses. We had a good plan and the players executed it really well. We knew they are a tough team and they would put pressure on us and we had a good plan to contain them.”
The coach was also full of praise for Brandon Obiero and Eugene Ikutwa who made their second consecutive starts.

“They have done really well over the last two matches and I am really pleased with their performance. It is all about their belief and they are getting it right in terms of our strategy and how we play and hopefully they can remain consistent.”
The team will now quickly switch focus to the next assignment on Thursday and coach Okere says squad rotation would be key to get through December with a good run.
“There is little space in between matches and we need to get a good plan to ensure we get freshness in each match. We also need to get it right in terms of squad rotation because we have a big squad and all players are capable when given an opportunity,” the coach said.
