Tusker FC striker Eric Kapaito says the team has put behind the setback of being eliminated in the FKF Cup, and will now put all energy into fighting for the league title with 10 matches remaining.
Kapaito says the team has learnt from its misgivings in last Saturday’s defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz in Kisumu, and will look to right the wrongs with three points in our next league fixture against Kariobangi Sharks.
“It was heartbreaking to lose that game because our expectation was to do well and win. A team like Tusker, every game is important and we have to win every match and compete for every trophy. It was a tough setback for us but I feel we have a chance to redeem ourselves in the league,” Kapaito said.
He adds; “We have pushed each other really well in training this week and the morale is high. It is a good game to play and we are looking to bring in the three vital points. We want to take a game at a time and see what comes off it at the end.”
Kapaito says it will be special playing against Sharks, his former team, but is quick to note there will be little room for sentiments in 90 minutes as he looks to not only add his goal tally for the season, but also help the team to victory.
“It is a special game for me to play in because Sharks are a big part of my career. They helped to give me my first Premier League experience and I am looking forward to the game. But the target for us is simple, go and get three points,” stated the forward.
Kapaito played for Sharks, winning two golden boots and an MVP award before making the sojourn to Ethiopia.
He played a few minutes of the first leg match that ended 1-1, as he had just started training following his switch to Ruaraka from Arba Minch.
