Striker Deogratious Ojok has been named as Tusker’s player of the month of April, edging out goalkeeper Brian Opondo in a close battle.
Ojok was nominated alongside keeper Opondo, midfielder Chris Erambo and his fellow Ugandan import Dennis Iguma.
The final four nominees were picked by the technical bench, based on various match matrics and a standard score system.
The four were then subjected to a vote by players and the technical bench, from which Ojok emerged top.

“I am really delighted to have been named player of the month. It is a such a huge motivation for me because I didn’t start the season very well. I struggled and then injury came in and so to come all this way and win the award means a lot to me,” Ojok said after he was named.
He added;
“I want to thank the technical bench for giving me a chance especially when it was really tough and bringing me in for this final phase of the season. This award motivates me to now work harder and give my best so that we achieve our target, which is winning the league.”
Ojok found the back of the net twice in May, scoring against Bidco United and Mathare United and provided an assist in the 1-0 win over Nairobi City Stars.

At the same time, Tusker Sports Brand Manager Keza Mpyisi has challenged the players to give it their all in the final game of the season to ensure that the team wins the trophy.
“We will give you all the necessary support you need and we want to assure you that the entire brand is behind you as you engage in these six games. Please give your best, and bring us the trophy,” Mpyisi said.
His sentiments were echoed by Tusker FC CEO Sam Nzau.
“Last weekend’s defeat against Mathare United hurt and we need to bounce back from that. I know your abilities and I know what you can achieve as players and I want to urge you to give it your all for us to celebrate at the end of the season.”
