Lots of lessons and growth: Erambo proud of his debut season

Midfielder Chris Erambo says he picks lots of positives and lessons from his maiden season in the FKF Premier League, and acknowledges there has been immense growth over the last year.

Erambo, 19, joined Tusker at the start of the 2023-24 season from second-tier side Mombasa Elite, and this was his first-ever Premier League experience.

“It has been a great season for me and there have been a lot of things to learn. I have grown mentally and physically. Each game has been a learning process for me. There have also been lots of challenges, but I take them positively and learn as I move,” Erambo says.

Keep pushing in new season

He adds; “Whatever I have learned this season is a great ingredient for me to keep pushing more into the new season.”

Erambo has become a mainstay in midfield since he joined. He took over a massive challenge to fill in the boots left by the likes of Humphrey Mieno and Jackson Macharia and hasn’t disappointed a tad. The highlight of his season has been his national team call-ups.

He was handed his debut call for the four-nations invitational tournament in Malawi, and also marked his first ever international appearance in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast.

Just this month, he played the full 90 minutes of all three games at the COSAFA Cup in South Africa.

Product of hard work

“It has been the product of working hard and those are the rewards. It does not stop there because I know I need to work harder to ensure that I am constantly being called up,” Erambo notes.

He looks forward to the new season with enthusiasm, and believes there’s better to come.

“Personally I need to do better next season and elevate my performance. As a team we also need to ensure we fight for those titles. It is a shame that we didn’t go home with any silverware this season, but we have to do better and win one if not both,” Erambo further says.

He adds; “I want to urge the fans to keep on supporting us and coming for games. We will not disappoint them.”
