Tusker bounce back to winning ways at The Annex

Second half goals from Chris Erambo and Eric Kapaito saw Tusker bounce back to winning ways with a well-worked 2-1 win over KCB at the Kasarani Annex on Sunday evening. The bankers drew one back late in the game, but the boys did enough to protect the lead and get the first win of the year.

It was a win hugely needed, especially after back-to-back defeats against AFC Leopards and Bandari FC. Three points were the necessity to ease the pressure and get the team back in confidence.

The coach made some changes into the starting line-up, keeper Brian Opondo making a return to the Starting XI after recovering from injury while Chris Erambo and Dennis Iguma all returned to the starting team.

New boy Stephen Etyang was handed a debut just four days after signing with Kapaito leading the hunt for goals, also returning to the Starting XI.

The first half was closely contested especially in the middle of the pack, with chances few and far in between. The best chance at goal I the opening 45 was a shot from Erambo inside the box, which was deflected with the keeper making an easy collection.

In the second half though, the boys stepped up the momentum and they opened the lead in sublime fashion. Off a poorly defended ball, Erambo controlled with his first touch and rifled a brilliant volley into the top corner with his second.

The goal gave the team momentum, having dominated in all aspects. They doubled the lead minutes later, new boy Etyang released Kapaito with a brilliant through pass, the striker beating his marker for strength before maintaining his calm to plant the ball into the bottom right.

Substitute Dennis Oalo almost made it 3-0 shortly after coming on, but his rasping shot from the right came off the side netting.

The bankers drew one back off a late counter attack, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback.
