Competition makes us stronger, says striker Eric Otieno

Striker Eric Otieno has lauded the competition for places in the team saying ultimately, it has made the team stronger. The forward believes that having at least two strong players in every position is crucial for any team to progress and perform well.

Otieno has found playing time tough to come by this season and has featured in few matches, but says the lessons picked have been more and having been given a chance in the Cup last weekend, wants to make his stay permanent.

“Competition is very strong especially in the striking department where we are almost five players. But as a team that is healthy because everyone works to get a place in the team,” notes the striker.

Otieno featured for 45 minutes in the 2-1 win over Bumbani Stars in Ukunda, and has found a place in the match day 20 that travelled to Kericho for Saturday’s FKF Premier League match against Muhoroni Youth at their backyard.

“I was delighted to get a chance in Ukunda and once again, if I get minutes in the Muhoroni match, I will do my best to help the team win,” he says.

Otieno adds; “We have prepared well as a team and the spirit is really great. We are coming off a run of three wins and that really propels us well.”

He says the team is cautious on the approach against Muhoroni Youth on Saturday, saying they are a dangerous team despite their position on the table.

“Last season we came here and they beat us 2-1 and they were in the bottom side of the standings so it is not a team we can take lightly. They are a very tough opponent especially in their backyard so we have to be ready,” he noted.
