Tusker FC picked a point Sunday evening in a 0-0 draw with KCB in an FKF Premier League match at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
A difficult outing with few chances ended in a point, that took the team to 37 points, still second in the standings.
The brewers had some chances in the opening half, Ryan Ogam finding space to dribble from the middle of the pack, but his eventual left footer evaded the target by a whisker. Eric Balecho also had a good opportunity when he rifled a shot from distance, but it was blocked for a corner that was eventually cleared.
On the other end, the bankers also had some good opportunities, first keeper Brian Opondo making a brilliant save to deny Faraj Ominde’s shot on the volley.
Collins Odhiambo also made a vital goalline clearance, heading the ball away after Francis Kahiro had beaten Opondo to the ball from a cross.
In the second half, coach Charles Okere made a change, bringing in Dennis Iguma for his debut to replace Dennis Oguta. The change saw him sit at the base of midfield with Chris Erambo and David Odoyo moving up.
The team still had some chances with Ogam seeing his well curled freekick blocked by the wall while Odoyo had a shot from distance fly wide.
On the other end, Opondo once again pulled off a great reflex save to pluck away Patrick Otieno’s deflected shot.
Alex Onchwari, who was making his debut had a brilliant outing, cutting off the KCB supply from out wide. Late on, he made a brilliant block from close range to deny Michael Mutinda’s shot.
