Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere has insisted the team needs to maintain a tactically alert approach, ahead of Sunday afternoon’s SportPesa League match against Sofapaka FC at the Kasarani Annex.
The tactician expects a tough outing, but notes the technical bench has worked to produce a fool-proof game plan to snatch maximum points in the duel.
“It will be tough playing against Sofapaka because they are a tactical side with a very good squad balance. In the last match we played against them we conceded so many goals and that is an area we have to be very alert on and improve. They have agile players in midfield with a lot of movement and we have planned well to contain them and capitalize in their weak areas,” the coach offered.

The tactician has also disclosed that one of the areas the technical team has worked on in training this week is the scoring rate. The team has only scored 10 goals in 12 matches, an area of huge concern.
“It is a concern for us that we are scoring just an average of one goal per game. Yes, we are getting cleansheets but we have to improve offensively as well. We have attackers who can do well and that is an area we have given a priority this week. We have worked on all aspects; technical, tactical, psychological and physical to ensure that we have a good balance and improve. Goal difference is very key in the league and that can determine whether you go down or up,” the tactician said.
Meanwhile, Coach Okere has provided an injury update ahead of Sunday’s fixture. Striker Eric Kapaito has returned to full training after missing the last two games with a minor groin problem and is in contention for a place in the game.

However, midfielder Dennis Iguma experienced a minor setback in recovering from an ankle injury and is set to be out until the turn of the new year.
“We have worked very hard with the medical team to ensure that he (Kapaito) is in the right frame to be ready for the game. He has trained well this week and we believe he is a good addition to our squad depth heading into the Sofapaka game,” coach Okere stated.
