Youth Team secures first win of the season at home

The Tusker FC Youth Team secured its first win of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Division Two League after a well worked 1-0 win over Jamhuri Soccxer Academy at the Ruaraka Complex, Saturday evening.

Captain Dennis Chimano scored the winning goal quarter an hour to the end, a relieving three points after a tough start that had seen them go five matches without victory.

Assistant coach Paul Adera was relieved to have led the team through to victory.

“It is quite a relief to get the three points and it really does so much to calm our nerves and settle us mentally. It had been a tough start for us and we knew that getting a win especially at home would be key for us to steady the boat,” Adera said.

He added; “The boys played their hearts out and ensured we executed the plan we had. Now this is the start for us; we must use this as a bouncing pad to get us into the season proper.”

The young lads dominated the game and had numerous scoring chances. Leftback Ibrahim ‘Aila’ Otieno came close with a rasping shot off a marauding run on the wing which went inches over the bar, while Brian Odiwuor had a freekick come off the upright.

In the second half, the players had more chances and should have had more goals on the balance of chances. After Chimano had scored the opener, Stephen Kimani should have wrapped up the victory with a brilliant left footed shot from the edge of the box, but the effort went just wide.
