Kapaito braced for tough match against Seal

Striker Eric Kapaito admits that Sunday afternoon’s match against Murang’a Seal at the Dandora Stadium will be tough, but reckons the team will do its best to come out with maximum points.

Kapaito says the team is determined to put up a strong finish to the season, and says every game of the last six will be like a final.

“We are taking game after game. We have six to go and we will do our best and see if we can get maximum points. Mathematically we can still get to the top but now we are depending on other results which is hard. But as Tusker, every game is important for us and we have to give 100 percent,” the striker said.

On what to expect against Seal, who won 2-1 in the reverse fixture at their home turf, Kapaito said; “It is going to be a really tough game because they also need the three points to finish strongly. But for us, we have prepared well and training has been good this week. We want to ensure that we are as close to the top as possible. We have picked a run of two consecutive wins and we want to get another.”

He says the team has worked to address deficiencies from the last two games, biggest of them being conversion of chances.

“We want to ensure that our conversion rate is high. We have been creating so many chances as a team but we don’t convert. We have done a lot of finishing in training this week and we have been scoring and that gives us confidence heading to the game,” Kapaito says.

The striker is also chasing the FKF PL golden boot. He has 10 goals so far and has a six-goal deficit to chase from leader Benson Omalla of Gor Mahia. However, he says it is in the least of his worries.

“For me, the team comes first. I don’t want to be scoring and the team is not winning. I will keep doing my work of scoring then from there we see where it takes us,” offers Kapaito.
