Tusker FC fought from a goal down to rally for a 1-1 draw against Police FC at their Police Sacco Stadium backyard Sunday evening. Lawrence Luvanda came off the bench to score an 85th minute equalizer, cancelling our Marvin Nabwire’s early opener.
Luvanda had come on for the final 20 minutes of the game, and made his impact felt to rally a point away from home. Luvanda’s shot from inside the box off a Collins Odhiambo cutback from the right beat Patrick Matasi in the Police goal.
The team could have clinched a win in the final five minutes plus eight of added time, with Jacob Onyango and Joseph Mwangi both having rasping shots that evaded the target by a whisker.
Police had broken into the lead early in the first half when Nabwire tapped in from close range. The hosts had started well, with Kenneth Muguna and David Okoth having shots saved by the hawkeyed Joseph Ochuka.
In the second half, Police started on the strong foot again, and they almost scored the second when Okoth glanced a header from Baraka Badi’s cross, but Ochuka pulled a magnificent save.
With changes made to the personell, Tusker was more offensive and they were gifted with the late equalizer.
