Tusker Youth fly past Thika Sporting in FKF Div II League

David Polepole put up a brilliant man of the match display with a brace and an assist as Tusker FC’s Youth Team thrashed Thika Sporting 4-0 at the Ruaraka Complex on Sunday evening in the FKF Division Two League.

The victory was the team’s third of the season and follows up another well-crafted away display last weekend where they beat Runda Youth Sports Association (RYSA) 2-0.

On Sunday evening, they were in free flowing mood, with Kenneth Kanyiri and Stephen Kimani getting the other two goals.

“It was a great display from the boys and we played according to the plan and strategy of the game. It was great to see us scoring four goals because we have worked much on finishing. We should have had more but we have to take the ones we had today. Kudos to the boys for such kind of a game and output,” said coach Peter Kariuki.

After a calm opening quarter of the game, it burst into life and Tusker broke the deadlock after 25 minutes, Kimani reacting fastest after the keeper spilled a Douglas Omanga shot from the edge of the box.

The visitors tried to put in some resistance with the game heading to the break with the slim 1-0 scoreline.

But, the boys came back in the second half with some fire in their boots and scored three goals within eight minutes.

Polepole scored the first of his two with a brilliant low finish inside the box off a pass from Omanga. The midfielder then turned provider five minutes later, putting Kanyiri through and the latter lifting the ball over the advancing keeper.

Polepole then completed his brace in the 55th minute with an expert finish inside the box, this time Kanyiri returning the favour by feeding him with a brilliant cutback.

There should have been more goals with Polepole denied from pointblank by the keeper while Kanyiri had a strong shot from the edge of the box on the half turn kiss the crossbar.
