Erambo delighted with national team call up

Tusker FC midfielder Chrispine Erambo says he is delighted and over the moon after his first ever call up to the senior national team, Harambee Stars.

The 19-year old combative defensive midfielder has been a revelation since joining the Brewers from Mombasa Elite in the National Super League, and his performances have caught the eyes of national team selectors, who have named him in the provisional squad that heads to Malawi for a four-nations tournament next week.

“I am really happy because this is a great opportunity for exposure for me. I am thankful for the opportunity. This has been my ambition since I came into the team and I am delighted that it has finally come,” Erambo said.

He added; “I was not surprised when I got the call up because I had been working really hard and I knew it would come.”

The midfielder now hopes he can become a mainstay in the team, with his ambition being to cement a regular starting place, and following up in the footsteps of his role model, former Stars captain Victor Wanyama.

“The biggest thing in football is consistency and this is what has helped me since I came to Tusker. Every game I have had an ambition to be better and that is why this call up has come. I don’t think there will be a challenge for mebecause this is a great opportunity and I am ready to take it,” noted Erambo.

He added; “I will keep doing what I have been doing in the team, work harder, same spirit and I know this will not be the last call up. Others will come.”

Erambo will join the national team camp on Friday in residential training, ahead of next week’s four-nations tournament in Malawi, and his ambition is to make the cut in the travelling squad.
