Tusker FC emerged with a 3-1 victory over fellow Premier League side AFC Leopards in a training match on Saturday morning at the Ruaraka Grounds. Deogratious Ojok, Lawrence Luvanda and Eric Kapaito scored the goals with Ingwe’s consolation coming off Brian Yakhama.
The game was played in a unique format, with three 40-minute periods, as both coaches used the opportunity to test the depths of their squads and different systems of play.
Tusker broke the deadlock in the ninth minute of the first period when he ran on to a through ball before nudging it beyond the keeper. He almost scored his second in the 26th minute when he was sent through on goal by James Kibande, but AFC goalie Humphrey Katasi made a brilliant save from close range.
In the second period, Tusker doubled the lead seven minutes in when Luvanda curled a magnificent freekick into the top right corner, taking responsibility after he had been appended at the edge of the box.

AFC however halved the deficit almost immediately when Yakhama headed home unmarked inside the six yard box from a cross on the left.
Tusker scored the third in the third period of the game, Kapaito breaking the offside trap with a cheeky run before blasting the ball past keeper Maxwell Mulili.
With the international break and no competitive matches for the next two weekends, the game was important for coach Robert Matano to keep his boys in check and ensure match fitness does not drop.
